2012 Winderlea Crawford Beck Vineyard Pinot Noir

This vintage Crawford Beck is a beautifully intense color rather than the more delicately colored wine we’ve come to know and love.  On the nose we start with savory dried herbs, lavender and fresh earth.  Coupled with red fruits of cherries, cranberries, elderberries and lemon zest are very distinct notes of tea, clove, coriander and coffee.  There is wonderful acid in this wine that finishes in the most seductively subtle and sinewy way making you want to come back for more.  Start drinking upon release or cellar through 2024.  Wine Advocate = 92; Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar = 92.

wines-7ofHearts2010 Seven of Hearts Crawford Beck Pinot Noir

A cooler site among the many we source from, and one that always benefits from an extended growing season as we had in 2010. The cool vintage brought out the best expression from the volcanic Saum soil and Dijon 115 clone on the Crawford Beck Vineyard. As always, both red and dark fruit characteristics show through, along with the distinctive cola notes and spice that are always a result of the alchemy of this soil and clone combination. A wine with appeal in its youth, but also one that will reward with some aging.
